ACCINOV
THE 1ST WHITE BIOTECH INNOVATION PLATFORM
The first call for proposals for the creation of biotech innovation platforms (launched in 2008 by the French Ministry of the Economy and the Caisse des Depôts et Consignations state savings bank) attracted 86 projects.
The Lyon-based "acCInov" project (championed by the Lyonbiopôle cluster) was the first to be selected for funding and is now awaiting the green light from the European Commission. The overall budget is €35 million per year for all funded projects.
The French acronym "acCInov" stands for "accelerating the implementation of an Infectious Disease Center for better innovation". The project aims at bringing together public- and private-sector players within a dedicated bioanalysis and biomanufacturing research facility. Another objective is to promote the creation and growth of life science start-ups and help turn them into the stars of tomorrow's biopharmaceutical industry.
