LAUNCHES A PHASE II CLINICAL TRIAL OF GRASPA
ERYtech Pharma hopes that the trial will show an improved prognosis for over-55 patients and a reduction in the side effects related to L-asparaginase's mechanism of action. To achieve this, the company uses a proprietary, patented technology for encapsulation of therapeutic enzymes or other molecules in red blood cells. This technique increases the therapeutic index and favors a decrease in the side effects typically observed with a conventional administration procedure. The end result is a more effective, safer treatment.
According to David Liens MD (Chief Medical Officer at ERYtech Pharma), "the launch of this study at forty or so investigating centers represents a significant milestone in the GRASPA® development program. Our objective is registration in ALL and we are very proud to have set up this project in association with the GRAALL".
