AN OFFICE ON BIOPARC LYON
Three years after its creation, the Swiss biotech company GeNeuro is to set up its first commercial subsidiary on Bioparc Lyon, in the heart of the Rockefeller university medical center complex.
GeNeuro is developing innovative therapies against nervous system diseases which involve human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs). The company is particular targeting novel therapeutic approaches in multiple sclerosis (MS), a degenerative brain disease which affects more than two million people worldwide.
GeNeuro has developed a preclinical model based on a humanized monoclonal antibody against a protein involved in the development of the inflammatory process in MS. GeNeuro is hoping to get a drug onto the market within the next 5 to 7 years.
Other HERVs involved in the development of a particular form of schizophrenia are also being studied.
