LYON IS RANKED

NUMBER 1 FOR HEALTHCARE

Lyon has been named as France's best city for healthcare in the 4th annual rankings drawn up by the weekly medical magazine Impact Médecine. The city finished ahead of Besançon and last year's winner, Grenoble.

Lyon had already topped the standings in 2007 and finished 5th in 2006 and 2nd in 2008. This result testifies to the concerted efforts by the city's healthcare stakeholders and notably those involved in developing medical medical research and easier access to a wider range of healthcare services.

The Impact Médecine ranking is based on the application of 120 health indicators to 36 French cities with over 100,000 habitants. The main indicators relate to social and demographic data (e.g. at-risk behavior like alcohol abuse, tobacco use, overweight, etc.), information on the available healthcare services (medical facilities and demographics) and environmental factors (climate, pollution and high-risk industrial facilities).
